Siyu Fan is one of the 4 finalists for the Agnes-Pockels-Promotionspreis 2025

The Deutsche Bunsen Gesellschaft has short listed Siyu for this years highly competitive Agnes-Pockels-Promotionspreis. Together with the other 3 finalists for the award Siyu will have a chance to present her work in Leipzig at the Bunsen Tagung (the annual event of the DBG). Congratulations!

Nanodiamonds as labels for integrated microscopy

Integrated microscopy combines electron microscopy (EM) with light microscopy. However, conventional dyes bleach during the sample preparation for EM. NV centers in diamond, however, are protected within the lattice and thus remain fluorescent. As a result one can at the same time label cells optically and investigate the membrane structure. We can learn from this were diamond particles are within cells.
